Swettenham Stud holds a proud and respected position at the forefront of the Victorian and Australian thoroughbred industry. As the nursery of Group 1 winners including Mariamia, Victor the Winner and Trust In A Gust, our legacy is built on excellence.
The property
Swettenham Stud encompasses 900 acres of improved pasture on well-drained loamy soil in the Goulburn Valley, surrounded by some of the premier properties of the region: Mitchelton Winery and Chateau Tahbilk to the immediate north, and Northwood Park to the south.
Facilities
Paddocks built for horse safety
Paddocks and fencing are of the highest standard, built specifically for horse safety and practicality. The majority of paddocks are double fenced with laneways separating them, creating a safe and functional environment for managing a large population of bloodstock broodmares, as befits a premier commercial stud operation.
Stallion accommodation
The stud accommodates up to eight stallions in boxes and barns, with views along the river offering a tranquil setting for the farm’s star residents.
Yearling and broodmare barns
A modern, well-ventilated barn for yearlings and a separate barn for mares and foals.
On-farm veterinary hospital
An isolated veterinary hospital area with hospital boxes and a laboratory, facilitating the work of the resident veterinarian.
State-of-the-art foaling unit
A well-lit, purpose-built foaling unit is an integral feature of the farm.
